Arsenal player ratings vs FC Nurnberg as Kai Havertz quiet and Folarin Balogun bright| SolSportHQ

Mikel Arteta made a number of changes for the second half of Arsenal’s pre-season friendly with FC Nurnberg at the Max-Morlock Stadion, with Kai Havertz making his Gunners debut

Karl Hein: A desperately poor decision to try and find Jorginho when the pass was never on in a million years. Never settled after that and was lucky not to be punished for his long range fumble. 4.

Cedric: First Arsenal appearance in a long time. Nearly marked it with what would have been a superb goal. Also slipped when taking a free kick. Mixed return. 6.

Ben White: Showed his versatility when moved into centre. Interesting to think he could be used there more often when Timber’s arrival is confirmed. Couldn’t do much about the goal. 6.

Gabriel: Taken off too early for a second half rating. n/a.

Kieran Tierney: Same drill as usual for Tierney. Reacted well to being overlooked in favour of Jakub Kiwior at left back. Didn’t look as comfortable doing the inverted role though. 6.

Jorginho: Unlucky to score the own goal as he could do absolutely nothing about it. Decent in possession aside from that and kept possession ticking over well. 6.

Kai Havertz: The long awaited debut was a bit of a damp squib. Hardly saw him in the second half, but if Jesus had passed to him he may have scored. The fact that he played left eight answered a few questions though. 6.

Fabio Vieira: Taken off too early for a second half rating. n/a.

Gabriel Jesus: Started out on the right which is interesting as the same thing happened vs Watford. Moved centrally pretty quickly though where he was busy, but inefficient. 6.

Leandro Trossard: Taken off too early for a second half rating. n/a.

Eddie Nketiah: Worked hard down the left wing, but wasn’t involved in the game much. Looks much more at home through the middle. 6.

SUBSTITUTES –

Folarin Balogun: The most threatening of Arsenal’s attackers in the second half. Played on both wings, but still found himself around the goalmouth. Unlucky to hit the post. 7.

Auston Trusty: Not the most convincing of debuts from the American. Caught out of position a little too easily and sloppy on the ball on occasion. 5.

Ethan Nwaneri: Some bright moments where he showed his confidence. Easy to forget he’s still only 16! Used in different positions to show his exciting versatility. 6.

Myles Lewis-Skelly: Came too late to influence the game. n/a.

Reuell Walters: Came too late to influence the game. n/a.
