The Under-21 European Championship final between England and Spain will be broadcast live by Channel 4 on Saturday evening, July 8
The Three Lions head into tie following a composed win over Israel, and they’ll be hoping to make history after reaching their first final in 14 years. As for La Rojita, they booked a place in the final after waltzing past Ukraine 5-1 and they’ll be looking to make it four trophies from their previous seven championships.
Until now, the tournament has been shown online by UEFA. Channel 4 have secured the exclusive television rights to broadcast the Under-21 Euros final despite tough competition from the BBC.
In an official statement, Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer Ian Katz said: “Channel 4 has brought a number of historic sporting moments to a free to air audience in recent years and we’re delighted that the nation will be able to watch England’s Under-21s as they attempt to make their own bit of history against Spain on Saturday.
“The Young Lions final will be part of a bumper weekend of sport on Channel 4 with live coverage of qualifying for the British GP earlier on Saturday and the Grand Prix itself on Sunday.”
