Chelsea are looking to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window despite already bringing in Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson ahead of next season
Chelsea are among the clubs thought to be interested in signing Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun in the summer transfer window. The USMNT international is facing an uncertain future at the Emirates Stadium after impressing during his loan spell in Ligue 1 last term.
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has insisted that Balogun will be given a chance in pre-season before a decision is made on the striker’s future. Speaking to the press in the USA, he said: “He’s done incredibly well and now we have to think what is best to do, but we want to see him in the next few games.
“He played in the last game against Nurnberg, and he will do it again in the next few games. Then, we will make the best decision.”
According to The Athletic, Inter Milan are preparing to submit a bid in the region of £34.3million ($44.9million) as they look to sign Balogun after withdrawing their interest in Romelu Lukaku. Balogun’s representatives have reportedly already held talks with Chelsea over the possibility of the 22-year-old joining the club.
According to Footballtransfers.com, Balogun’s management have ‘touched base’ with the Gunners’ London rivals. RB Leipzig, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Newcastle are also interested in signing the USMNT international as he looks to secure regular first team football for the 2023/24 campaign.
