Erik ten Hag secures huge Manchester United coup as key Arsenal figure set to leave| SolSportHQ

Arsenal are looking to build on last season and challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title once again, but have lost one key figure to Man Utd this summer

Arsenal head of medical services Gary O’Driscoll is set to leave his role at the Emirates Stadium and join Premier League rivals Manchester United. The Gunners are in the process of bolstering the senior squad with new signings after already confirming Kai Havertz’s arrival from Chelsea this summer.

Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber are expected to follow the German forward to the Emirates Stadium with both players completing medical tests this weekend. William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu returned from injury to take part in pre-season training – along with Gabriel Martinelli and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

However, Mikel Arteta looks set to lose a key member of staff ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. O’Driscoll joined the Gunners back in 2009 but is now set to leave the club to join Erik ten Hag’s staff at Old Trafford, according to The Athletic.

The 52-year-old was on the verge of signing for Liverpool in 2020 before opting to stay put in north London. O’Driscoll has has also turned down other opportunities to leave Arsenal in the past.

United have managed to prise him from the Emirates Stadium in a switch that is expected to be completed later this summer. The Englishman is extremely popular at Arsenal and was not actively looking to leave, though it appears the chance to move to United proved too good to refuse and also enables O’Driscoll to move closer to his family in the north-west of England.

O’Driscoll’s departure comes as part of plenty of change at Arsenal this summer with a number of players set to leave the club too. Granit Xhaka has completed a £21.5million switch to Bayer Leverkusen – while Thomas Partey, Rob Holding, Kieran Tierney, Nicolas Pepe and Folarin Balogun could all join the Swiss midfielder in leaving the Emirates Stadium.
