Inter Milan ‘set to turn their attention to Arsenal star Folarin Balogun’ after Romelu Lukaku snub| SolSportHQ
Inter Milan are reportedly considering a move for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun, with Romelu Lukaku now seeming poised to join Juventus.
Lukaku spent last season on loan at the San Siro, and throughout the season had indicated his desire to join the club permanently from Chelsea once the transfer window opened.
However, reports from the Italian media claim the Belgian striker has ignored his Inter teammates in recent days, and is actively pursuing a move to instead join Serie A rivals Juventus this summer.
With a permanent return to the Nerazzurri looking increasingly unlikely, Simone Inzaghi is said to be preparing contingency plans to ensure he can bolster his attacking options.
According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have earmarked Arsenal academy graduate Balogun as a potential alternative should they fail to capture Lukaku.
After struggling to break into the first team at the Emirates and failing to set the world alight during a spell with Middlesbrough, Balogun enjoyed a sensesational campaign on loan at Reims last season.
Opening his Ligue 1 account on his debut for the club, Balogun would go on to net 21 goals across 37 appearances in the French top flight, leaving him behind only Kylian Mbappe, Alexandre Lacazette and Jonathan David in the league’s scoring charts.
Such a prolific season has earned Balogun no shortage of suitors with Chelsea also reportedly interested in signing the 22-year-old.
The report also claims that Inzaghi could pursue a move for Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
Morata has a proven goalscoring record in Serie A across two stints with Juventus, but Inter would likely face competition from Jose Mourinho’s Roma, who are also interested in the Spain international.
