Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko is slowly but surely returning to full fitness ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield clash against Manchester City
Arsenal star Oleksandr Zinchenko appears to be nearing a return to action following his calf injury.
Zinchenko then played 11 minutes during Saturday’s Game4Ukraine charity match, showing that he is nearing full fitness at the perfect time considering the 2023/24 Premier League campaign gets underway next week. It remains to be seen whether or not the ex-City defender will be available to take on his former side at Wembley but if his comments on summer signing Jurrien Timber are to be believed, the Dutchman is more than capable of operating as an inverted left-back in Zinchenko’s absence.
When asked about Timber playing in his position, the Ukraine international told the official Arsenal programme, via Arseblog: “Maybe he is, but maybe better than me. I’m sure he is 100% going to show us what he can do, and will really help us.
“I do know about him because I watched him and followed the way he played at Ajax. Also, I played against him for the national team so I know about him as a player, what amazing qualities he has, and now I know him off the pitch.
“He’s a great guy, another incredible signing for Arsenal who will help us a lot.”
