Arsenal second half player ratings vs Manchester City as Trossard shows value and Timber good| SolSportHQ
How the Gunners got on in the second half of the Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium
Ben White: Continued on with his impressive display from the first half. City barely had a sniff down his flank. Not able to get forward as much second period though. 7.
William Saliba: More composed on the ball and defensively. Helped in ensuring Haaland barely had a sniff in the second half. 6.
Gabriel: Defensively pretty good in the second half. More composed on the ball as well. Not really at fault for the goal. 6
Jurrien Timber: Defensively really solid in the second half. Got across to every City cross or shot in his part of the box to block. Good in possession when going forward too. 7.
Thomas Partey: A little poor with how easily he was bypassed for the goal. Not at his composed best when in possession amid the City high press. 5.
Declan Rice: Some signs of just how good he can be when intercepting in the midfield. Not quite as threatening as he could have been when in possession though. 6.
Martin Odegaard: Some nice tricks and flicks where he showed what he’s capable of on the ball. A good second half for the Arsenal captain. 7.
Bukayo Saka: One decent shooting chance missed even if it did come at him a little quick. Not at his usual threatening best down the right though and had limited impact. 6.
Kai Havertz: A bit quieter in the second half than in the first. Still a decent focal point for Arsenal but found himself drawn a little too deep at times. 6.
Gabriel Martinelli: His set piece delivery left a little to be desired. Not always at his best when making decisions in the final third. 6.
Leandro Trossard: Showed his value to the team right at the end with a deflective effort that was deserving of his work off the bench. A superb impact. 7.
Kieran Tierney: Slipped to allow Palmer the space to shoot having been punished by De Bruyne for an overstretched clearance. Smallest of mistakes, but made the difference on the day. 5.
Eddie Nketiah: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
Emile Smith Rowe: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
Fabio Vieira: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
