Nick Kyrgios blames ATP for Djokovic injury: Players suffer all the time

Novak Djokovic‘s injury to his right wrist, which hindered him in his loss to Alex de Minaur in the quarter-finals of the United Cup, is yet another consequence of the constant ball changes on the professional tour.
At least on the Antipodean tour, Tennis Australia is sticking with the same Dunlop ball.
While the ATP continues to work to unify the same balls on the different tours, one for hard, one for grass and one for clay, Nick Kyrgios asks that they hurry to avoid situations like the one the world number one is going through.
“Change of balls every week finally got to Novak’s wrist. The ATP really need to do something about this problem. Players suffer all the time,” wrote the Australian tennis player on his social media.
“Ok for the noobs that think I’m taking credit away from Alex are just plain dumb. Demon is a hell of a player and deserves every success that comes his way,” he continued.
Carlos Alcaraz agrees
Kyrgios, with no points and no ranking, is out of the upcoming Australian Open, precisely because of a wrist problem. Complaints about ball changes were especially evident in the last Asian tour where each tournament had a different ball.
“I’ve never seen so many wrist, elbow and shoulder injuries in the locker room,” warns Vasek Pospisil, vice-president of the PTPA, the tennis players’ union.
“I’ve been having wrist problems since the last American tour because of ball changes,” says Taylor Fritz, the No. 10 player on the tour.
Carlos Alcaraz, the second-ranked player who represents the future of tennis at the age of 20, also has an opinion on the matter: “The only thing I would change about tennis is to play every tournament all year with the same ball. Now you have to adapt your game. In every tournament, the ball is different”.
