Tennis players are fed up: You get hate messages no matter what you do, from people who gamble

Iga Swiatek, the women’s number one tennis player, has spoken about the negative criticism she receives online.
She called for people to be more considerate when they message tennis players via social media.
“The amount of hate and criticism that me and my team get after even losing a set is just ridiculous,” she said.
“I want to encourage people to be more thoughtful when they comment on the Internet.
“We all sacrifice a lot. We’re all working really hard to be in that place. We’re always giving 100 percent of what we can do every day.
“It’s sad for me to see that people I work with and myself, we’re really judged.
“I want to encourage people to be more thoughtful when they comment on the Internet.”
Ons Jabeur also speaks about online abuse
Swiatek was not alone in her criticism, as Ons Jabeur showed her support for the Polish player’s words.
“Honestly, you win or you lose and you get hate messages no matter what you do,” she said.
“We need more nicer people in this earth, but I don’t think you can change the mentality of some betters.
“They have nothing to do in their life, and they are just spending money on you and they probably lost a couple of bucks on Iga losing a set.”
