Arsenal and Liverpool sent controversial top-four warning after £159m Chelsea transfer spree| SolSportHQ
Arsenal will be desperate to build upon their impressive outing last season and win the Premier League, while Chelsea and Tottenham eye a return to the top-four
Robbie Savage has made his Premier League top-four prediction and he’s warned Arsenal and Liverpool that they’re in danger of losing out on a Champions League place to Chelsea. Last season, the Gunners missed out on first place to Manchester City by just five points, while Manchester United and Newcastle claimed third and fourth respectively.
Liverpool and Brighton secured Europa League qualification places, with Aston Villa finishing in sixth and clinching the Europa Conference League slot. Chelsea and Tottenham, however, missed out on the top-six altogether, so they’re desperate to redeem themselves this term.
Ahead of what is expected to be a closely contended campaign, Savage expects the Blues to significantly improve under Mauricio Pochettino after a £158.8million spending spree. In an interview with Star Sports, the Welshman also stated Arsenal could miss out on the top positions despite having almost won their first league title since 2004.
“I think Chelsea could get into the top four,” said Savage. “You look at Newcastle and Arsenal who have Champions League football – yes, Arsenal have made three big signings – but I think Chelsea could get it.
“I think with the way Mauricio Pochettino can improve players and the fact they have no European football, which is huge, could play a big factor. For me, it’s between Arsenal and Liverpool [for who misses out].
“Arsenal have improved as well. The big one for me is Liverpool, especially if they continue to play that high line. They were beatable last year and didn’t have a great season. If you’re looking at it now, I’d say Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.”
A supercomputer prediction from King Casino Bonus has forecasted what the Premier League could look like based on betting markets. As quoted by The Mirror, City are expected to win the English top-flight again, while Liverpool reclaim second-place following a number of exciting signings.
The supercomputer has placed Arsenal and United in third and fourth respectively, while Newcastle and Chelsea claim fifth and sixth. While Savage omitted Spurs from his prediction, data has claimed that the Lilywhites will finish seventh and secure a Europa Conference League spot.
